Our Trip to Orlando
The week of August 24th, a group of SCDR members went to Orlando, Florida to tour Joel’s home and training facility. We also learned more about the dedication and training involved for the upcoming production. We witnessed first hand the care and love the trainers give to the dogs – they really have formed bonds with all of the Dalmatians.
All of the dogs are happy and are receiving top notch care. They are continuously monitored by an on-staff veterinarian and have two daily training sessions. It was amazing to watch the Dalmatians “rehearse” their parts in the production and witness the culmination of all of the training. The Dalmatians (about 15 in total) will be featured in the opening scene, the closing scene before intermission and the finale.
In total, 15 SCDR Dalmatians have auditioned for the show since June 2009. Each dog was carefully evaluated by a trainer to make sure he or she had the “it” factor, in addition to the concentration and focus needed for the training, traveling and performing. We are proud to announce that of the 15 SCDR Dalmatians evaluated, Murphy, Jada, Lacey, Bert and Likewise made the grade and are Broadway bound!
